a summer vacation in Canada
Lieve Tante Riet,
Debby and Guy,
Diana
and families
We send our condolences for the loss of Geert Eeuwes, your husband, father and grandfather.
We will remember him as he was last time in Holland: a strong man, full of interest for the people and nature around him.
It was so good to speak with him and have fun together. He could laugh so much.
I remember the summer of 1983. I was with a girlfriend from Amsterdam staying in Canada. The whole summer vacation we had from our high school We were exited to spend the whole summer in Canada.
Tante Riet, you and uncle Gary, had arranged with our family in Markham to pick us up. We had stayed in Markham and Toronto a fews weeks first. We had such a nice time with you that summer. It was one of the happiest times I had had.
A sunny summer, staying with you in your beautiful white house in Smithfalls, having barbecues with you and your friends, having nice cakes that you baked, despite all the work you did with the flowers. I remember that uncle Gary brought us to a park to camp and canoe. We stayed there a few nights. We canoed, cooked on a campfire. Uncle Gary laughed so hard at us when we go home. We told him that when we socialized with other campers at the campfire, raccoons had broken into our tent, had taken our most favourite cookies and had eaten holes in the coolers as well. It was lovely you gave us the opportunity to get to know you more in such a warm and friendly atmosphere
I loved the time you and uncle Gary came to Paris, too. I stayed there as a part of my education. We saw and enjoyed quite a bit of the city together with my parents.
We cherish the memories we have of you and uncle Gary.
