I am very sorry to learn of the passing of my good friend and valued former colleague Gary Taylor. I met Gary shortly after joining Molson in 1974.I enjoyed working with him on many projects and respected his knowhow, professionalism and thoroughness. We continued our friendship and collaborated after we both left Molson,as Gary first worked with Herb Stoneham and then founded his own company. Until a couple of years ago we met
periodically for lunch to maintain our relationship. I shall miss Gary.He was an intelligent, capable and honourable man as well as a good trusted friend.
I offer my heartfelt condolences to Margaret, Alwynn and Graeme for their loss. May God bless Gary and his loved ones.

To the Taylor family: my deepest sympathies in the loss of Gary. I met Gary more than 15 years ago when a career counsellor I was going to introduced me. I was supposed to have 1 hour of his wisdom and instead he very generously mentored me at a challenging time in my life & career. I appreciated his directness and perspective--I can't begin to explain how much his knowledge & insight helped me. I wasn't so fond of the pipe though! We talked photography, a shared love, and sailing. I'm so sorry for your loss, and wanted to you know how much I appreciated him.
Regards,
Katherine Norenius

We are sorry for our loss . Gary and I enjoyed many times together. He was a mentor in my early career at Rothmans and later in my venture capital days. I always valued his wisdom and his ability to listen. I hope that his passing was peaceful.

On behalf of the Port Credit Power & Sail Squadron's Bridge Officers and members, I wish to extend to the family members our condolences of the loss of Gary Taylor. I knew him as my instructor as a student in his "Seamanship Power" course. As our instructor, Gary passed on his knowledge, experience and love of boating and ably fielded any question put to him. At the same time, he displayed his wit and humour that was appreciated by all his students. All of this by the way, while recoverying from a recent stroke at the time.
For others in the Squadron, he was everyone's leader as our Squadron Commander and honoured as our Past Commander. On many occasions I had listened to member's many anecdotes about Gary which were given with tones of endearment and smiles. Gary was already missed in the last couple of years as our instructor but he will not be forgotten by us as a knowledgeable boater and great human being.

It is with sadness that I read of Gary's passing.I met Gary in the late 80s when I was at MDS. Over the course of a year or so, Gary selflessly gave his time to "take me under his wing" to help me make sense out of where I was going in my business career. Oftentimes gruff and brutally honest but always encouraging, he caused me to focus on what I wanted/needed in a job. When the opportunity arose to be a part owner of the firm where I am at now, my work with Gary helped me make the right decision to move and since then I haven't looked back. Gary was happy and supportive of my career decision and we stayed in contact but, over the years, lost touch.
I always tell people about Gary and that how I ended up where I am is due in no small part to Gary's help and mentoring. I was lucky to have met Gary as I am sure that most others who knew him would agree. He will always be a fond part of my memory. The world is a poorer place without him.
Regards,
Geoff Miller
