Over the years, especially when I was in the employ of the Diocese of Ottawa, I had association with your dad and always enjoyed that association. Oh, Michael. I'm so very sorry to hear of the unexpected death of your father. I didn't know him well but I always liked him a great deal, and was so pleased to see him again as an officiant at the blessing of your and Sally's marriage. My Michael and I both know too well the pain of losing a father. We are in Mexico at the moment but please know that, if we could, we would be with you to share in this difficult time. When I was Rector of St. James Perth, I had occasion to ask your Dad for help pulling my van out of a bog. As was his way Doug was more than willing to help. He immediately followed it up with hospitality on the river. He was a good man and a good priest and he will be missed. Please accept my condolences on the occasion of your loss.
