We offer a wide range of burial and cremation options for families. There are many options and selections to ensure every family served at Blair & Son is comfortable with their choices and falling within their budget.  Should your loved one's estate be such that a service of any kind is not affordable, your family may qualify for assistance through Ontario Works.  We work very closely with local financial assistance agencies to ensure your loved one has an equally dignified and meaningful service.

Burial Service

Family and religious beliefs may play a role in whether or not burial is the right choice for you or your loved one. Conventionally, a visitation and a funeral service at a place of worship make up a burial service. The casket is generally at the proceedings. Whether or not it remains open or closed is a decision for you to make. A decision will need to be made whether or not to be interred (earth burial) or an above ground burial (entombed inside a mausoleum).

Other choices will include the type of casket, what should be included on a gravestone, whether or not to embalm, and which cemetery will be used for interment.

​Cremation Services

An increasingly popular option for many, cremation serves as an alternative to burial. There are various reasons why some prefer the idea of cremation. Some feel it is more environmentally responsible, while some religions forbid or require it. Some simply prefer the idea. Cremation does not serve as a funeral alternative, merely as another choice aside from burial. 

There are many ways to pay tribute to your loved one with their cremated remains. They may be kept with you or the family in an urn. They can also be buried or scattered. They can also be placed inside a pendant or bracelet or other piece of jewelry to keep close to the heart.

Cash Disbursements

To aid the families we serve, we will cover third party expenses and place them on our account as a convenience until the estate is understood. 

Strict legislation ensures that these items are not marked up. To the penny, it is strictly the exact cost included on your funeral account. Typical cash disbursements might include:

  • Notices to the Local Newspaper
  • Clergy Honorariums
  • Cemetery Fees
  • Coroner's Cremation Certificates
  • Soloist/Organist services

Catering Services

Our family has organized receptions in our wonderful reception rooms, and for families in their homes, as well as in reception halls, and many other locations in our community. While dealing with the loss of a loved one is an emotional time for the family, our knowledgeable staff will offer to make your arrangements for the reception. No event is too small or too large for our experienced group. We are capable of providing any service for any number of guests.

​(Alkaline Hydrosis)

A procedure referred to as resomation, also known as alkaline hydrolysis, is an alternative to burial or flame based cremation. A mixture of flow of water, temperature and alkalinity accelerate nature’s own processes.
