WWII Veteran
Passed away in his sleep on October 3rd, 2012 at Grandview Lodge, Dunnville, Ontario at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his wife Alice of Dunnville, his brother Norman and family of New Zealand, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and was a special uncle to Heather and Allan Farris of Perth. Dave was predeceased by his firs wife Phyllis Patch of Ottawa and his brother Graham of B. C. He was born and raised in New Zealand. As a member of the New Zealand Air Force, he served in WWII after training with the RCAF in Dunnville. After the war he and Phyllis lived in New Zealand for a few years before coming back to Ottawa where Dave worked at Canada Packers. They later moved to Perth where he was a co-owner and employee at Central Wire. He was Past President of the Perth Rotary club and Past President and lifetime member of the Perth Curling club. Dave loved to travel and he and Alice happily spent much of the last twenty years visiting their many fiends in Australia, England, New Zealand and here in Perth, On. A reception to honour his memory will be held on Saturday, October 27th, 2012 from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In remembrance, contributions to the Perth Rotary Club would be appreciated.
