Nanny just a few short days ago Austin and Brenna opened what they call their "toonie cards". Every holdiay the joy on their faces when they open your personal creation whether they are wearing a super hero costume or a bunny suit you have always found a way to make each of them smile through your cards. They will very much miss looking for them. I fondly remember countless Christmas Eve's, playing in the cedar forts Cory had created, a cup of coke that was always 90% ice and the best butterscotch pie on the planet. You are loved by so many and I hope you know how I cherish those memories and so so many more are and always will be. Heaven sure got a precious angel...

Today is one of those days.
The longing refuses to go away.
Your face constantly flashes in my mind.
I wish I could talk to you just for a little while.
I know you taught me to be strong.
Hence, I have been living my life trying to move on
But your absence continuously drags me down.
You were my pillar - the one I lived to make proud.
So forgive me, but it’s kind of hard just to go on.
I wish that you were here to hold my hand.
To tell me that it's okay, that you understand.
I wish you'd even just look at me
just so I can look back at you and remember who I wanted to be.
Life without you is hard.
Sometimes I wish it could have been me that life gave the Red Card.
Because what's a daughter without the love of her mother??
If I could, I would have chosen to be in deep sleep with you rather.
I wish you knew
the pain that you left behind with me.
The tears I let flow in grief for you are known by few.
Come back just for a day so that we can make memories that are brand new.
Because the ones we made before are fading - in my memory box sits only a few.
It is so sad that I have to refer to you as "was".
Just someone that used to be - who now lives in the past.
I try to carry you with me every day in my heart
and I wish the dreams that I have of you, I could hold on to and make them last.
But life doesn't work that way - I guess we had our chance.
So I have to carry on and be the strong little girl you always bragged that I was.
But I lied, Mom. I really am not at all that tough.
I just pretended to be because I knew you would always be there when things got rough.
And because the pride you had for me was just something I couldn't get enough of.
You know, you were able to soothe me with just a simple touch.
I didn't think you'd leave so soon.
I would have told you the truth.
That without you I'd be torn into two.
Today is one of those days when the longing just won’t go away.
So I thought I'd write you this letter.
To let you know that your daughter isn’t at all as happy since you left her.

A Poem Sent by Mom's Friend Ann (DEATH IS NOTHING AT ALL)
Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you. For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner.
