Passed away peacefully in hospital Smiths Falls on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 following a brief illness, Gordon Joseph Hughes at the age of 87. Gordon is predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Ruth (nee Tubman). He is survived by his daughter Heather Horne. Gordon was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather to many in the Brown family. He was the loving brother of Beulah (Jim) Keller. He is predeceased by his sister Leta Hayes, as well as his brothers Seldon and Sam Hughes. Gordon will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
