It is with shock and heavy hearts that we say good-bye to you Rod - thank you for all the great times we have shared over the years (and there have been so many). Words cannot say what you did for Lionel. When he needed someone the most - you and Linda were always there. Our hearts and prayers are with you all.

My deepest sympathy go out to the family. Rod was an amazing man. He was always there with a smile and kind-hearted advice. Eager for a chat to share his wisdom. Fondly I think of him asking me to always keep a smile on my face. My heart is heavy. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Rod always had a story to tell. I loved hearing them too. I didn't always get the meaning immediately, but they usually made sense eventually.
Could always depend on him being there to listen if you happened along with a problem or a musing.
He'd always tell his share or opinion, and head off again with a smile and a wave.
So Rod, you will be missed, and I can't wait to hear the next story you tell me when we run across each other again!
You will be missed!

Once in a while, I'd see this guy with a dog in Smiths Falls. He spoke to me once, trying to pass a brochure, or the like, to me. I declined 'cuz I was very busy with work. Someone told me that a guy fitting the description and named Elliott had passed. I'm sure I turned white. If I'd known, I would have made plans with him to sit down, and have a coffee, and talk about the 70's. I liked him - he was a nice guy. Now I'm sorry I never got to say hi. RIP, Rod...

You definitely had a huge impact on my life. And now that I'm a little older, I appreciate all of your music, not just some, heh heh. Thank you for opening your home to all of us, and allowing us all to take up residence at one time or another. Thank you for guiding me (and sometimes sketchin' me out with the sheer REALITY of it all)) through some intense moments. Thank you for the late night philosophical pep talks, when I thought I was all alone in the world. Haven't seen you for a while, but now that I can't, I'll miss you

Impressions
I didn't know Rod as a friend, but I had the priviledge of speaking with him on a few occasions, and was most impressed with his attitude towards Mother Earth, people, gov't. etc. He shared some of his writings with me and his spirituality touched me. He will be missed in this town.

Remembering Rod
I met Rod in the sixties, when he moved here to Smiths Falls near the end of his high school years. We were both on the track team and it is worth noting that Rod was an exceptional sprinter. He'd already run a 9.9 second 100 yard dash at the All-Ontario's, which identified him to be one of the top high school sprinters in the province at that point. Rod moved on to other interests and upon graduation stayed within the community. I will always fondly recall watching Rod run those dreaded 40 yard wind sprints at the end of football practice, subsequently finishing ahead of the rest of the team by some fifteen yards.

Gentle Man With A Dog
George and I got to know Rod when we had our store in Davidson's Courtyard . Rod would walk his dog by the store at least once a day . We would say hello and he would carry on up the street . I'm a dog lover and I always notice and judge people by how they treat their animals . Rod and his dog loved each other !
One day Rod stopped and I came out with a dog biscuit . That was the beginning of our friendship . For I'm sure he judged people also by how they reacted to his dog . We had a good conversation that day . Many more followed , where we would share our ideas on many subjects . You see from my perspective , Rod was a thoughtful person . He cared about Earth and what was happening to it .
He was always kind and spoke in a quiet voice . He will be missed .
