Wayne & Maidi McGarvey posted a condolence
Maidi and I were so sorry to hear of John's passing. John was a great guy. We worked as partners in the O.P.P. Ident Unit Perth D.H.Q. from 1973 until John decided to change careers. He was resposible for a good portion of my training and I always knew that if I needed his assistance for a job he was always there with reliable information. He was a great working buddy and also a very fine friend. I will miss having coffee at McDonalds and sharing the town gossip with him. Whenever I asked John what he was up to today, he would reply "I'm busy...busy..busy Grout"...and that line I will never forget. Johns was a great guy and his memory will always live in my mind.
Ann - Maidi and I extend our deepest symapthies to you and your family at this time of great loss. John's memory will help keep you strong and reflect the many happy days that you all shared with him in years gone by.

Ann - Maidi and I were so sad to hear about Johns passing. He was a great working partner, training officer, person and friend. As you know John and I worked together at the Perth O.P.P. Headquarters Ident Unit until he choose to switch careers. He was always there to offer advise and a helping hand when needed. I will miss our get togethers at McDonalds Restuarant where we would discuss the Town's gossip and settle all of the worlds problems.
I won't forget that when I asked him what he was up to the current day he would always just answer "Busy, Busy, Busy Grout". Those words I will always remember. John may now be physically gone, however he will remain in my memory for years to come. Please accept our condolences to both you and all family members. John will be missed by many in the community of Perth.

I want to send my sincere condolences to the entire Cheffins family. When I was very little, John drove the bus and made sure I got to school safely. Riding the bus every day used to make me sick, and John couldn't have been nicer about it! My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Dear Ann
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to you and share a brief memory I have if John. John drove my school bus a number of years ago and I often think of the wonderful stories he shared as well as his generosity at the end of the school year with trips to DQ. He was the best bus driver I have to say. I often think of Christmas time when I would search for a giant candy cane to give him as well. Good times remembered. I hope that good memories will comfort you through this sad time.
With deepest sympathy Sarah and Greg

As Ann's only brother, I have known her and John all of my life. I know how much they meant to each other and how they always came first in each other's hearts. John always took great care of Ann and I know she will always miss his love and his strength. When I decided to give wedding photography a go, I immediately went to John for his advice on the ups and downs of the business, and he gave it to me straight, just as I knew he would. My wife, my sons and my self will always be there for Ann. She is a sweet, kind and loving woman who has made our lives better. We love you Ann and we will miss you John.

To my Nana Ann, I will miss the trips to the bank with Papa John. The Slushies at our special bank will be one of many memories. Papa John would spend time with me and that was so special to me. The stories that he would share with me always made me laugh and they continue too. When he would spend time with me it made me feel special. He would listen to me and made me feel important. Nana Ann, thank you for sharing Papa John with me and I will always love you.

To my Nana Ann, First he was my neighbor, then he was my friend, then he became my Papa. I will always cherish my trips to the museums, train shows, Harvey’s and our talks. Papa John always was excited to see my new purchases. The encouragement that he gave me was that, that only a Papa could give. Please know that you are loved.
