Few people in life have an impact on a person that lasts 55+ years! Mr Ryan was that person. One of my fondest early childhood memories was skating and playing hockey on his homemade ice rink on Anne St.. He would maintain that little rink for all the little boys and girls in the neighbourhood to use anytime, I can recall the bare light bulbs strung across the yard so we could play longer, never saying, time to go home. The lights were on and both he and Mrs Ryan made you welcome. A little thing ...maybe.. but his effort and consideration stuck with me since that time.
A couple of years ago I had a chance to thank Mr Ryan for that time in my youth and explained his efforts did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. After a heart to heart( which he loved to do), he offered me some grown up advice, some 55+ years later, I took it and benefit from it today.
Mr Ryan made a difference in my life and ,when I see a bare little lightbulb in the dark I will think of him.
My condolences to all the family. He will be missed.

Al will be missed. He was always happy to impart his wisdom-from the uses of a zener diode, the proper soldering technique (a few burned fingers later I finally got it),how important it was to keep your tires rotated, to the best fishing spots on the Rideau. He was an easy going person that I rarely saw upset..except that one time, during a ladies Maranatha meeting at the Ryan house, I set up some displays around his chair while he tried to watch t.v....:). I'm happy to call him a friend.
Hugs to the Ryan clan and my deepest sympathies....thinking of you all.

How grateful I am to be able to look back over my childhood, teenage and young adult years spent with Brenda, and they hold many fond, life-changing memories of 'father' Ryan's teachings, guidance, wisdom and love. Whether it was school courses, learning to drive, curfews, recreational opportunities; he gave us practical and godly advice. He never stayed too far from the shore...He was always there for us. With deep love and appreciation.

My earliest memories of Mr. Ryan are when he used to fly his plane over to Pike Lake to visit my dad in the wintertime. As an adult, I met him on many occasions. What a true gentleman. He always left me with a message about something in life-something to think about. "Take your family to church," was one of those such messages. When I last saw him at his house in September he took me inside and showed me his amazing artwork. He was so talented! I especially loved the pencil drawings he did of his great-grandchildren. Always someone I enjoyed running into, I shall miss him. My condolences to the Ryan family.

Mr and Mrs Ryan were one of the first couples we met when we started going to Calvary Bible Church . They truly loved each child as their own. We have wonderful memories of spending time with them at church and at their home in Rideau Ferry. How we loved going to that "big " hose on the water. Our deepest sympathies are extended to Dave and Anne, Connie and Steve, Catherine, and the entire extended family and friends this amazing , very Christ like man touched and influenced in his time here on earth.
May you feel God's peace in this difficult time
Fondly remembered by Doris and Darlene aka Dorisalene.
