Obituary of Margaret Opal McLachlan

McLachlan, Margaret Opal Died peacefully at the Great War Memorial Hospital, Perth, Ontario, on April 17th, 2008, Margaret Opal (Isaac) McLachlan, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Sinclair McLachlan (1991). Loving mother of Hugh (Rosanne) of North Bay and Laurie (Greg) McNally of Perth. Cherished grandmother of Beth (Matt Miernik), Walter (Rachel Persaud), Susan (Russ Borrowman) and Cathy (Toby James) McNally, and Rachel and Amanda McLachlan. Much loved great-grandmother (G.G.) of Madison and Lachlan Miernik. Sister-in-law of Carrie Isaac. Pre-deceased by her brothers, Earl and Lorne Isaac. Survived by many Isaac and McLachlan nieces and nephews. Dear friend of Penny Plamondon. Opal was born in Consort, Alberta, the daughter of Roland and Gertrude (Vasey) Isaac, and, following their early deaths, was raised in Midland, Ontario by her relatives, the Vasey family. Opal and Sinclair lived in Ottawa from the 1940's to 1972, when they moved to the cottage they had built on Otty Lake, Perth, wintering in Clearwater, Florida. Opal was an active member of St. Paul's United Church, Perth. Opal had a great love of family, friends, cards, scrabble, travel and good fun. Her quiet, eloquent nature and warm smile were a gift to this world. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff of Carolina Court and Access Centre for their wonderful care, kindness and friendship shown to Opal. Special thanks to Drs. McLean, Del Grande, Moxon and the emergency and ICU staff of the Perth Hospital for their professional, compassionate care. Visitation will be held at Blair and Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St .W., Perth on Sunday, April 20th, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 25 Gore St. W., Perth on Monday, April 21st at 11:00 A.M. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery, Perth. Donations in Opal's memory may be made to the Perth GWM Hospital Fund or to the St. Paul's United Church Building Fund. May Opal rest in peace.
