Barber, Lura (nee Payne) At Smiths Falls, on Wednesday, May 28th, 2008, Lura Mildred Barber in her 86th year, passed away peacefully after a long term of illness. Predeceased by her late husband Gordon Barber, mother Gertrude Payne and father George Payne of Kemptville, Ontario. Sadly missed by her only brother Clarence Burton Payne, sister-in-law Jannine, niece Darlene Payne and great niece Jennifer Payne (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). Loved and missed by her 10 surviving nieces and nephews from the Barber side: Margaret Ann (Alabama), Dorothy (Brampton), Walter (Trenton), Mike, Geralda, Alfred, Donna all of Smiths Falls, Joan (Saskatchewan), Fred (Arnprior) and Gerry (Kingston). A private family gathering will be held at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls, on Monday, June 2nd, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at Oxford Mills Union Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. In remembrance, donations to the Salvation Army are welcomed. The Barber family would like to give special thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Broadview Nursing Centre and especially to Dr. Frank Murphy for all their exceptional compassion, care and support.
