April 12, 1922 - June 15, 2015
Peacefully, following a life well lived Ken MacKenzie died at Lanark Lodge at the age of 93. He was the forever loved soulmate of Evelyn (nee McLellan) of 67 years. He was the loved and respected father of Clark (Bev), Doug (Annabelle), and Don (Kim). He was the cherished grandfather to Chris (Courtney), Sara (Ted) Rodney, Lorianne (Stephan) Peloso, Josh, Duncan, Brandon and Bryce. He was the proud great grandfather to 4. Ken was from a large family with 5 sisters (MacKenzie) and 10 step brothers and sisters (Peters). He was predeceased by his parents Edgar and Emily (nee Felskie) and stepfather Bill Peters. Also predeceased by siblings "Viney", Jule (Russell) Thomas, Helen (Lloyd) Lackey, Edna (Pete) Woods, Grace (Frank) Sommerville, Alvin (surviving Vera) Peters, Maccie (Cliff)Kerr, Elva (surviving Murray) Larmon and Elwood (surviving Joyce) Peters. He was also predeceased by his In-laws John and Margaret (nee Darou) McLellan. Also grieving his loss are his surviving siblings, Dorothy (late Earl) Anderson, Lois (late Jim) Lackey, Stanley (Heidi) Peters, Murlin (late Merle) McPhee, Keitha (Gerry) Majaury, and Calvin (Susan) Peters and their families. He is also mourned by his In-law Family members, late Arnold (Zelda) McLellan, Ivan (late Phyllis) McLellan, Murray (Mary Lynn) McLellan, Shirley (Bob) Duncan and their families. Also grieving his loss friend Judy Dickie. Ken started work early as a young man of just 14 and this included many years in the bush and as a sawyer in local Lanark County saw mills until starting work in 1963 with the International Silver Company in Perth. He retired from that same company then known as Heritage Silver Smiths after 24 years of service as the foreman of the Drop Forges in 1987. He then traveled with his loving wife on several vacation trips including a trip to Western Canada and a grand 3 month tour to Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Hawaii. In his retirement he reveled in his grandchildren and frequently worked long hours with his son Don building communication towers and thus playing a pivotal role in starting Highland Communication Systems LTD which soon evolved into a successful local enterprise. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St., West, Perth on Thursday, June 18th, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday for an hour before the funeral service which will be held in the Chapel at 11:00 A.M. followed by a reception in the Blair & Son Family Centre. Interment Highland Line Cemetery, McDonald's Corners. In remembrance of Ken, contributions to the Highland Line Cemetery or the Ompah Cemetery would be appreciated.
