Our memories of Gilbert
<p>
My memories of Gilbert go back to the late 1940's when we came to Ompah every summer for holidays. We spent many hours together, with others who either lived in Ompah or came there for vacation during the summer months. It was always a time to look forward to during the Winter months to come to Ompah and reunite with wonderful friends. Gilbert and I remained friends over the years and much later when I came here with my husband and our young family, Gilbert and Grace owned the general store in Ompah. Our children made their daily trek over to see Gilbert on the cut path my husband made so they wouldn't have to go around on the road. (Albeit there was not much traffic in those days) When I noticed that there were many, many candy wrappers on the floor upstairs, many more than each of their currency would provide, we questioned them on how come there were so many. They shared the fact that Gilbert, who loved our kids suggested that if they pooled their allotment, and bought bags instead, they would have a lot more. They of course thought this was a terrific idea and as it was summer vacation, we thought this was hilarious that Gilbert was in cahoots with them and had a good laugh at the ingenuity of it all. When Gib and Grace were the proprietors of Buckshot Lodge, we spent many happy Thanksgivings there and thoroughly enjoyed their wonderful hospitality and wonderful meals. The time was always followed with music that Gib and I shared over the years. Our children still have many fond memories of those days.</p>

Gilbert will forever be missed and the memories that were made will last forever.</p>
