I am feeling very sad after hearing of the loss of your dear husband, father and grandfather. Although I didn't know him well, I was very impressed when I met him and Reta at Lisa's home in Ottawa - a true gentleman. His kind and gentle nature was very obvious. To Reta and family ;
I have not seen Mel for many years having left Perth in 1951; but I remember Mel very easily from my days playing with him in yhr Perth Citizens band. He was, without a doubt, one of the most gracious individuals that I have ever met.
I just found out about his death from our son Rob who has also been a band member for many years.
