Obituary of Isobel Dupuis

Dupuis, Isobel (Horricks) A long time resident of Perth, Isobel Horricks Dupuis, the last surviving member of the family of the late Orphelia and Andrew Sym of the Scotch Line in Perth, passed away on September 24th at Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke, in her 95th year. Predeceased by her husband Ted, of Perth five sisters and one brother, Isobel is survived by her step-son Ted (Frances) of Pembroke and their children John(Sheryl) of Calgary, Janet (Elvis) of Montreal, Bruce (Lada) of Muscat, Oman and Bruce’s son Kirill of Ottawa, and several nieces and nephews. Upon graduation with the last nursing class of the Great War Memorial Hospital, Perth , Isobel furthered her education at Ewart College in Toronto and served for many years as a deaconess in the mission fields of Western Canada. Upon returning to Perth she continued her nursing career in the Perth and the Smiths' Falls hospitals. A faithful member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Isobel was a charter member of the Perth Book Club, and a long time volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society. Other interests included the Perth Cross-Country Ski Club, the Rideau Valley Naturalists Club, and the Perth and District Horticulture Society. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair and Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth on Friday, September 26th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. M. Savage officiating. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. In remembrance, contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or memorial fund of choice would be appreciated.
