When I was 14 years old, I remember being so upset that I would have to spend an entire summer up at my cottage and away from my friends. This worry quickly disappeared the first week into summer when I met Shawn. I remember meeting Shawn and a few other kids from the lake over walkie talkie’s, which quickly turned into a camp fire. Everyone loved listening to Shawn and all of his funny stories and I loved looking at him!</p>
<p>
As the summer progressed we had become very close, and I was wishing that summer would never end. It did, but Shawn and I stayed in contact enough for me to convince him to ask me out. From there we were inseparable, at least on the weekends when our parents would travel back and forth from North Gower before Shawn had a car, and every night on the phone. Tina, Barry and Mickey, I’m sure you can remember, as my parents do, trying to make a phone call only to find Shawn and I obviously on the phone together. Sorry about that!</p>
<p>
Shawn was my best friend and my whole life growing up. He was always there for me, and would always do whatever he could to make me smile. I’ll always remember the excitement and proud feeling I would get after school on days where Shawn would be waiting to pick me up. I’ll never forget his thoughtfulness and charm and I am so thankful to have shared special years, trips, milestones, and so many amazing experiences with him.</p>

I am so sorry for your loss. I am keeping you all in my thoughts along with the amazing memories of Shawn that I will cherish forever.
I consider myself lucky to have known the extremely loveable Shawn McFadden. I think back to the many times spent with him at Bass Lake and in Ottawa.
