My sincere sympathy to Dorothy’s family. Dorothy was a dear friend. She never ceased to amaze me. She was such a talented and caring lady. I enjoyed many parties at her home as a friend of Verna’s. Dorothy hosted many Aloette shows. I thought nothing of asking her if I could spend a night at her place. If you knew Dorothy you know exactly how I was treated. She loved a visitor and a chance to chat. Dorothy had more than earned her place in Heaven. RIP dear friend

I had 5he great pleasure and honour of working with Dorothy while she worked with the Canadian Cancer Society. She the CCS in Lanark. I remember the year of the flood in Lanark we worried if the daffodils would sell well Dorothy had them all sold that day. A force to be reactened with. Her smile lit up a room and was only out shorn by the size of her heart. She will be missed. Her family was everything and my your memories help you though the next difficult days.

So sorry for your loss. Dorothy was such a wonderful lady. She spent many hours volunteering for the cancer society and doing the daffodils. What I will always remember and my kids will always remember was going to her place at Halloween and how she had to guess who they were and of course her homemade candy for the adults. It was the best. Have many great memories of a beautiful woman.

Our condolences to Cousins Jim and Joe and their families. Growing up we visited with Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Elmer many times through out the years. There are countless kind things that Aunt Dorothy did throughout the years. As a young child I remember Aunt Dorothy showing mom how to do ringlets in my hair. As a teenager showing me how she decorated all her wedding cakes. Then for my wedding a special cake. Later on she was always interested in how the children were and where they were as they grew up. She was especially welcoming when Mark and I returned from living in Germany.
I will miss her and our chats on the phone.and at her house.
Aunt Dorothy will always have a special place in my heart .

In talking with a friend this morning I was deeply saddened to learn of Dorothy's passing. When our family moved to Lanark in 1962, Dorothy, Elmer and the boys were our very first neighbours and friends. We all lived on Paul Drive and were as close as any families could be.Dorothy used to baby sit my two younger brothers while Mom worked at Glenayr Knit, and I was at her house with Jim as much as I was at my own.You were always welcome at Dorothy's house, and a yummy piece of cake could be waiting for you too.I started Cubs with Dorothy in 1962 and learned a lot under her kind guidance before moving on to Scouts. She always came to any painting exhibitions I had in later years, and had several of my paintings hanging in her home."Stop in for a visit any time you're by," she always said, and I did.Dorothy's caring and giving nature was spread over the entire community of Lanark, and she had a profound effect on many lives. Hers was indeed a life well spent, and she will be missed by many. Be at peace Dorothy.

Over the years of the United Church suppers, Dorothy would say - "Donnie, I have put a piece of butterscotch pie aside for you".

The Donaldson's posted a condolence
On behalf of the Donaldson family, please accept our sincere condolences on Dorothy's passing. Our familes lived 5 houses apart for 50 years, the bus stop was in front of the Paul's house - we would take cover under Dorothy's porch on bad weather days waiting for the bus. To us, Dorothy was like our grandmother, always interested in what we were doing - and that friendship didn't stop with us kids, but extended to our own kids. They looked at Dorothy like a great grandmother - encouraging, never a negative word, always positive. An all-round community leader, never looking for attention, but quiet, in the background, wise, positive, supportive. Anything going on in Lanark, Dorothy was involved in some way. Thanks so much for being such a good friend and community leader.
If our father were still living he would want us to offer his condolences and appreciation for his and mom's lifetime friendship with Dorothy and Elmer, so its important to us to be able to do that on his behalf. God Bless.
(Raymond), Feryn, Cathy, Pat and Larry Donaldson and families.
