It seems that most of my childhood memories are filled with having Uncle Sterling around, as if it were only yesterday that everyone would be at Nan's and Pop's gathering around to play darts or to have a game of cards , usually the night ended with harmonicas and accordions being played. It's these memories that I will hold near and dear to my heart to remember the wonderful Uncle that he was. I hope that each of you can take comfort in the memories that you have as they will last forever. As you go through such a difficult time please take comfort in those around you and know that you are continuously in my thoughts and prayers each and everyday.
Sending my love to you all

To the family of Sterling Starkes:
I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to the family of Sterling. Although I have never met Sterling or any of his family, I was saddened to learn through the Beacon obituary column about the passing of my 2nd. cousin. Sterling's grandfather and my grandfather were brothers who lived in Valleyfield, not too far from Musgravetown. I understand he lived in Gander and raised his family there. I wonder now if on my frequent visits to Gander, I may have met or even spoken to him and never knew we were related. Again please accept my deepest condolences.

Sharon Starkes & Family,
Sorry to hear of Sterling's passing.
We both grew up and went to school at Musgravetown. I was kept informed of Sterling's battle with cancer in conversations with Kathy.
Our paths have not crosssed since high school, but my thoughts often go back to recall many wonderful memories of Sterling and his brother, Wayne, whom I have not seen since school days. I remember them both as being good friends and being very competitive in the limited sports activities that we played.
Please accept my sincere sympathy.
