Obituary of Craig James Hill

Hill, Craig James November 20th, 1961 - July 27th, 2018 Craig passed away peacefully July 27th, 2018 at his cottage on Christie Lake after a four-year battle with ALS. He leaves behind his beloved wife Jennifer (Brooks) and his children Kaitlyn and Connor who were his pride and joy. Craig was the son of Josephine and the late John Hill, brother to Barbara Lesage (Rob) and Lorne. He was uncle to Krystine (Jeff) and Logan (Alanna), great-uncle to Emery, Reyna and Scarlett. He was the nephew to ten aunts and uncles and cousin to twenty-six. Craig also leaves the Brooks family, mother-in-law Linda and the late D'Arcy Brooks, Brenda (Mark), Allison and David and nieces Emma and Alexandra. Craig was born in Red Deer, Alberta. He spent his youth skiing and playing hockey in Mackenzie, B.C. and throughout western Canada. Craig attended the University of British Columbia, earning a Commerce degree followed by a Law degree. Craig moved to Toronto to begin his career in 1989. He was hired as an associate in the insolvency department of Borden Ladner Gervais where he was mentored by some of Canada's premier lawyers in his chosen field. Craig became a partner of the firm and was proud to spend his 25-year career amongst those whom he considered to be the finest group of professionals. Craig lived his life with integrity. He had a bold sense of adventure, a love of travel, a great appreciation for live theatre, motion pictures and comedy. He enjoyed countless hours spent on the golf course. Craig was a loyal friend and advisor to many who sought his counsel. He was a generous and thoughtful man. His most cherished moments were the simplest ones. Laughing and enjoying time with his beloved family. Craig will be forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing his kind heart and gentle soul. A true gentleman. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the excellent team of health care professionals at the Perth Hospital and those who cared for him when he returned to the cottage for his final days. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St., West, Perth on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. in St. John's Catholic Church, 38 Wilson St. East, Perth followed by a reception for family and friends at the Best Western Hotel. In remembrance of Craig, donations to the Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation, 33 Drummond St., West, Perth, K7H 2K1 or A.L.S.Society or Hospital for Sick Kids Toronto would be appreciated.
