Our hearts go out to your whole family as you walk this journey of grief. Tommy was one-of-a-kind, and there were none more important to him, on the face of this earth, than you, his family. I am thankful for the memories I have of Tom...we shared a lot of laughs, a few tears, and the odd tiff over the years, but I always knew that if I ever needed ANYTHING, I could pick up the phone and he would be there....that's just the kind of man that he was. It's hard to comprehend that a world without Thomas B. Saunders could possibly exist.... I pray that your wonderful memories will bring you healing, comfort and strength as you face the days ahead. The service is probably near the end in Smiths Falls and oh, how I wish I could be there in person to express my condolences. Pat, I am so very happy that I had the opportunity to see you in South Carolina so recently. Thank you for that beautiful gift. I posted a verse on my FB page that came to mind when I heard the news that Tommy was gone -- "They saw it way off in the distance, waved their greeting, and accepted the fact that they were transients in this world. People who live this way make it plain that they are looking for their true home. If they were homesick for the old country, they could have gone back any time they wanted. But they were after a far better country than that - heaven country. You can see why God is so proud of them, and has a City waiting for them." (Heb 11:13-16) Tommy never went back to the "old country". He eagerly awaited his true home and lived his life in a way that showed this was the destination he sought. So glad that I knew him during such pivotal years in my life. His changed life helped change mine. I look forward to seeing him in GLORY. Much love to you all -- hugs and kisses from afar.
