Mom and her Great Grandson
It may have been because he shared her birthday, July 11th, or because his name, Robin, carried on a family tradition, but whatever secured the connection between Mom and her great grandson, it remained strong throughout their contact with one another. As he did at this meal together, Robin would show Mom things, and she would give him a smile that conveyed pure happiness. (People who knew her also know a smile without a trace of wryness was rare for Mom.) With his serene temperament, Robin seemed to make up for kids and grand-kids who were too rambunctious too regularly to please Mom. Thank goodness she got to witness this generation of offspring!
