Obituary of Violet Elizabeth Easton
Easton, Violet Elizabeth
Violet Elizabeth Easton was born in Perth, Ontario on July 24, 1933, and died on March 22, 2019, at the Perth Hospital. After Violet moved to Roanoke, Virginia for high school and a year of teachers' college, she returned to Harper, Ontario, where for a couple of years, she taught in a one-room school. She married George Elwood Peters and together they raised a family of six children. Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall, with help from Simpson Sears' catalogue, she worked hard personalizing outfits for each family member. She was opinionated and very organized -colour-coding (matching) our clothes and food. She had beautiful handwriting and could easily recite passages from literature, poetry, songs, and the Bible. Living in the country at the farmhouse or at the cottage, she made sure everyone contributed to the work that needed to be done. She appreciated the small things in life and could be quite the comedian, making you laugh hysterically about almost anything. Some of the happiest times were coming home and smelling her freshly baked pies and driving to the cottage with groceries, clothing, and pets-tons of things we needed for the entire summer. She was very generous. No matter who turned up at our door, with her southern grace and charm, she welcomed people in and offered home-cooked food. She shared fond memories of her friends in Virginia and they stayed in touch by mailing letters and gifts to each other through all the years. With her second husband, Thomas Rheinhardt Easton (predeceased), she was able to continue enjoying country life and traveling until he passed away in 1998. With some health setbacks, she lived the last fifteen years at the Perth Community Care Centre. We appreciate and thank CCC staff for everything they did to make life better for Violet. Violet had six children: Charles Geordie Peters, predeceased (Anke predeceased), Linda Iris Peters (Greg Hicks), Michael Rodney Peters (Hélène), Virginia Christine Peters (Dirk Safioles), Elizabeth Suzanne Peters, and Daniel Fitzgerald Peters (Amanda); eleven grandchildren: Stephanie Mousaw, Lisa Vandusen, Andre Peters, Adam-Michael Peters, Austen Peters, Alix-Sandra Peters, Calvin Safioles, Brad Safioles, Zach Safioles, Justin Peters, and Joseph Peters; as well as two great-grandchildren and loving sisters: Faye, Evelyn, Daisy (predeceased) and her many nieces and nephews. Violet's family will hold a private memorial-date to be determined. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. West, Perth.
