Trish, Kyle, Melanie, Kelly and Families.
For many years Lynn and I had the honour of calling Rick our Friend. I knew Rick as a loving and devoted Father, Grandfather, Husband and Godfather. Reflecting on old times spent together opens a flood of laughter and tears.
Rick had the passion, an exceptional professional, mentor and kind man. A selfless giver, he truly enriched the lives of others, including mine and my Family. I am saddened at losing such a dear longtime Friend. With you and many, many others I will remember Rick, forever in our hearts.
I pray you find comfort and peace in knowing how much he loved you all and what joy you brought to his Life. Blessings....

My heart hurts to hear of Rick's death. I have known Rick for over 30 years as he shared many shifts working with my dad Bela. He was a gentleman, a kind and caring man who loved his kids with all his soul. He had found so much happiness with Pat, my heart hurts for her pain. May you all find peace in the memories you shared and may Rick rest in peace and be forever out of pain. We will miss him dearly

I have known Rick for about 35 years. We shared many things including hundreds of ambulance calls, teaching hundreds of people CPR, playing music for hundreds of dancers and listeners, shared hundreds of jokes and hundreds of laughs usually at our own expense. We won a Ministry of Health First Aid Competition and he helped me test ambulance students at Algonquin College because he was the best person for the job. In our careers as paramedics we even shared saving a life. Rick was a true professional and I was proud to call him a partner and collegue, but most of all I was proud to call him my friend. Sincere condolences to Trish, Kyle, Melanie, Kelly and all their families.

I have had the privilege of knowing Rick over the last 18 years as we were both part of the Ottawa Anglican Cursillo Movement. His passion for doing good and his compassion for people was outstanding. He was also very funny and his warmth and humour brought people to Christ as they could see Jesus in him although many would not identify that's what he had. He had a beautiful heart and my prayers are for his wife and family he leaves behind. Scripture says " safe in the arms of Jesus" and that's where he is .Sincerely ,Louise Mundt

I knew Rick for about 36 years and in that time we shared a great deal. I taught him his first aid course so he could start part time at the Smiths Falls Ambulance in the spring of 1976. We worked together at the ambulance service and were on hundreds of calls together and treated hundreds of patients. We taught CPR to hundreds of people and as musicians played for hundreds of dancers and listeners. As paramedics we saved a life together which is still a special memory for me. We even entered a Ministry of Health First Aid Competition and walked away with First place. We shared hundreds of jokes, most at our own expense and hundreds of laughs. I was proud to call him my partner and my colleague.. But most of all I was proud to call him my friend. Sincerest condolences to Trish, Kyle,Melanie and Kelly and their families.

It was my pleasure to meet Rick when we were part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup dive here in Smiths Falls. He was helping to make the canal a cleaner place each year he took part. His presence made you feel safer not only for his medical skills but his genuine interest in everyone involved. He will be sorely missed and yet so greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Dan D

I would like to express my condolences to Rick’s family. I have worked at the Ambulance Communications Centre for 24 years and had the privilege of working with Rick on many issues over the years. Rick was fair with me and we shared a quite a few laughs after the business part of our conversations had ended. Although I have not met a lot of Rick’s family I think Rick was a great guy who not only had passion fort his chosen career but more importantly compassion for the people he served. Rest in peace Rick!

Deepest sympathy to the entire Warren family on Rick's recent passing. We enjoyed the priviledge of being associated with Rick, as a professional colleague, former Lampliter, church volunteer, minor hockey executive member, coach and trainer and most importantly,a cherished family friend for 33 years. He had a positive influence on our children and was the driving force behind the installation and ongoing staff training and maintenance, of Automated External Defibrilators in our public facilities, with lifesaving impacts.Take comfort in the fact that the thoughts and prayers of our greater community are with you all, at this difficult time.

Kyle....please remember your father as a very fine man.....maybe a little crusty at times, but that was his nature as a goaltender! He will be always in the memory of all his friends.

Rick and Victim Services
Rick was a kind, caring and direct personality who continually gave his time to help nurture the community through his work with Emergency Services and the umpteen boards and committees he graced.
We were fortunate to have Rick join our family of volunteers in 2005 at the inception of VCARS. Rick brought wisdom, concern for those we helped and a fathering presence to his positions of Team Lead and Responder. Rick went above and beyond even when it was almost impossible to do. Rick mentored volunteers through the program, helped countless clients and provided stalwart support to staff and peers. Rick constantly reminded us of our responsibilities to others, especially family for which his love was proudly worn on his sleeve.
Rick was one of those persons you are thankful you have met on the journey through life and hope to meet again. There is no doubt in my mind that he will continue to watch over us all.
