Dear Ted, Nick & Merry,
My sincerest condolences on the loss of your wife & mother.
I know you will feel a great void in your life. I know there will be in mine. Debbie was a sweet gal in all meanings of the word. We met in grade 11 and the friendship continued through one year nursing school. After she moved to Toronto, we managed to reconnect throughout the years. Deb was determined. If she set out to do something, she put all her heart and soul into it. After reconnecting after a year of messenger notes and lunch, I was informed of her struggles of ALS. Our last visit was filled with many laughs and a few tears. Deb was and still is the strongest, most courageous person I know. May you find comfort in knowing there are so many people that felt the way I did about Deb. She has made this world a better place and me a better person. It is and was a privilege being part of her life.

Liette Carpentier,
My very sincere condoleances to Debbie's family and friends.
Debbie and I served together in Borden. She was a very good nurse and a pleasure to work with. When I think of her, I see her driving her red sport car and the night we spent suturing soldiers after a big brawl. It was a very warm and humid night so she opened the windows and there was no screen. She got bitten so much by mosquitoes and all I could hear was Debbie slapping them. When we were done her skin was so red from slapping herself. We were very tired but as she said, it was a good productive and fun night. I hope she didn't suffer too much. We all had much affection for her.

A Passionate Nurse

I had the pleasure of working with Debbie for the past 11 years. She was a dedicated nurse who took great pride in ensuring that "her" residents had the best possible care. She was a tremendous suppport to all staff she worked with and to the management team. It was a very sad day on Tuesday when we told staff that she had passed. She is missed.

I'm sending a prayer for the family that they find peace in knowing that she is at rest now.
