I knew Dr. Churchill from his years at Dominion Chalmers United Church in Ottawa. He was a remarkable human being - intelleigent, caring, energy to burn, and always trying to help out his fellow human beings, no matter their station in life. He performed the funeral service at both my parents' funerals and did a little extra, like dropping into the family home a few days prior to the funeral just to reassure the family and to go over details of the service. When my father was unconscious in the hospital Dr. Churchill dropped by and even though my father was not aware of the visit at times Dr. Churchill would always leave his calling card on the table, just to let the family know that he had stopped by. He always went above and beyond the call of duty. Ministry was not just a vocation for him, it was a way of life and he believed that he, literally, had been called to serve. Dr. Churchill set the standards very high. He was an excellent model for how a good Christian man should live and behave. My very sincere condolences to the entire Churchill family.

We were very fortunate to have Dr. Allen Churchill as our Worship leader from 197l to 1979 at St. Andrew's United Church, Chatham. We were sad to see him leave. Such a clever young kind man to have developed this dreaded disease,
Our prayers go out to Alma and all his family.
God bless, Joyce and Bill

It was my honour to have listened to Rev. Churchill a few times. He captivated me with his knowledge of scripture. He also spoke very eloquently. It was certainly not difficult to listen to his message.
My sympathy to you at this difficult time. May pleasant memories and the love of people who care for you give you comfort.
It was evident you were a very caring wife. He is now at peace. May you be blessed, even in your sorrow.

My life of faith was profoundly touched by the ministry of Dr. Churchill during my teenage years in Chatham. It was a blessing for my husband, Brian, and I to reconnect with Allen in Ottawa and work together on the Billy Graham Mission. I look forward to seeing him in eternity.

Allan and I were born in the same year and it has been years since we talked. He was a source of great inspiration to me over the years. Allen was a great theologian and Biblical scholar. I think he was one of the few clergy I knew who I could describe as a 'real Christian' and I bet that would be enough for this humble man. Allan, you are in the presence of your Lord and all the mysteries are now solved!

Allen's mother was my Glen Tay teacher, she gave a mean strap. My dad had property around and behind the Churchill home, I went many times to his Dad's shop. No surprise that Allen did so many things, and touched so many lives. My condolences to the family.

As President of the Ottawa Lay School of Theology from 1994 to 1997, I had several dealings with Dr. Churchill as the School operated out of Dominion Chalmers United Church. He was firm in his views as a traditional Barthian theologian. Although not always agreeing with him, I greatly respected him.
I express my condolences to his family.

We offer our sympathies to Alma, Christine, Thomas and Matthew in the loss of your husband and father. Allen was a well-respected friend of my parents, Fred and Millie Healey, and we were fortunate to have him marry Quentin and I in 1985. During the time of my mom's illness and heart surgery, he often visited the Heart Institute, leaving us feeling a little more hopeful for the future. In 1994, he again helped us through a difficult time by performing the funeral service for our dad, Fred. Over the years, he was able to visit Quentin and I on our farm in the Waterloo area, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Allen was a great man of warmth and wisdom. We will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Alma and Family, I heard yesterday of Allen's passing. My heart goes out to you all. Even though we know he is Home after a journey well walked, along with you, we whose lives he touched, mourn his passing. i'd like to be there tomorrow for the service, but the distance from Chateauguay and the cold and the road conditions are rather forbidding. I will try to phone when maybe life calms down a little for you. May you know God's peace and comfort. Alice

I was sorry to hear of Reverend Churchill's death. During the time my family was around Calvin United Church, Dr. Churchill had a deep impact upon me. My brothers and I enjoyed hearing about his time in the RCMP and his time growing up on the Cameron Side Road. I can still recall some of his stories. My brother David and I also got a lot out of the confirmation classes we took under him at his home when we were both in high school. I will be praying for his family.
