William "Bill" John Pinkerton
William "Bill" John Pinkerton, aged 87, of Falmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 27, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. Born on November 7, 1923 in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, he was a son of the late David and Susan (Hackett) Pinkerton. Bill immigrated to Smith Falls in 1929. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas on the HMCS Ontario (1939-44). He retired as a Chartered Accountant with Gulf Oil. He was well known throughout the Falmouth (Nova Scotia) area, with his Burnt Orange, 1972, Datson 510 Station wagon, which was his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean (Elliott) Pinkerton; daughters, Susan (Patrick) Doyle, Upper Tantallon, NS; Judy (William) Holmes, Middle Sackville, NS; two step-grand children, Jordan Ann and Baillie Holmes; sister, Evelyn Hall, Florida; brothers, James (Patsy) Pinkerton, Brockville; David (Julie) Sims, New Mexico. Besides his parents, David and Susan Pinkerton; he was predeceased by a sister, Lois Dignard, Smith Falls. Cremation has taken place. Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m. A Graveside Service to celebrate Bill's life will take place at Maple Vale Cemetery, HWY #29, Smiths Falls on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11 o'clock. There will be a Memorial Luncheon to follow from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #95 located at 7 Main St. E. Smiths Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be made to a Palliative Care/Hospice Program through your local Hospital.
