I am greatly saddened to read of the death of my aunt, Olga Travis. Although we have lost touch somewhat since the death of my parents, I remember Olga with great fondness and will always appreciate her kindness and the warmth of her welcome when I visited her, Uncle John and little John in the 1970’s. My thoughts are with the family and especially my cousin John.

To Olga’s Family
Please accept sincere condolences on the loss of your Mother.
Though I didn’t know Olga personally, I often heard how kind, generous and warm she was from a very dear friend Betty Muir. I understood that Olga’s son John was close friends with Betty’s twins Linda and Laurie.

Our sincere condolences to Olga’s family, especially John. We got to know this wonderful inspiring woman in Barrie. When she moved to Smiths Falls, we also moved to the Ottawa area a short time later. We continued being good friends until the time of her passing. Every time I knit I will remember her passion of knitting.

How Olga and I met.
One day while having supper at Wendy's I was reading a book about the sinking of the TITANIC, a subject which has interested me for a long time, when a lady walked across to my table and said,"I see you are reading about the TITANIC, my grandfather's brother was a member of the crew of the TITANIC". We chatted for a while during which time I mentioned my interest in the subject and that I had three videos and five books about the TITANIC. Apparently she, Olga, along with her son John, came in to Wendy's each week after going swimming so the next week I thought I would give her a surprise. I took with me to Wendy's one of my books and showed her a paragraph in the book which mentioned her grandfather's brother by name. We have been friends eversince.
Thank you for your friendship Olga.
