Obituary of Charles Joseph Neate
Neate, Charles ‘Bud’
We’re sharing the terribly sad new that Charles "Bud” Neate, at age 88 passed away on May 14, 2019 in Perth, 2 weeks shy of celebrating his 65th wedding anniversary with Carol, (nee Miller) the love of his life. Dad left behind his adoring and adored children Linda St. Pierre (Al) and David Neate (Karen). He’ll be remembered as the amazing Poppa of Gregory (Liz) and Stephen St. Pierre and Kelsey Neate. Jaxson St. Pierre will learn about his GPop and what a special man he was. Son of the late Charles and Marie Neate of Halifax, brother of Marnie deceased (Jack) Coles of Welland and Carole Farley of Hamilton. Brother in law of Jane Rod deceased (Vance), Ruth Perry deceased (Ken) and Jack Miller (Edna). Uncle to Julie and Sandra (deceased), Chris and Michele, and Susan and Janis, Debbie, Johnnie and Carol-Ann. He enjoyed spending time with Bob (deceased) and Dolores Wood, their friends for over 50 years. To know Bud was to love him. He was humble, funny, wise, emotional and story-teller. Bud was a sports fanatic, and played baseball, curling and golf. He loved music, was a pitch perfect whistler, and was known to put his mouth on a harmonica. He started his career in Halifax with CBC. He was the senior film editor in charge in Ottawa, where he retired after 35 years. He and Carol wintered in Florida and he took up cross-stitching. Bud was happiest in his sun room where he did his crossword puzzles and whistled to his cardinal friends who always responded. Our family is beyond grateful to Dr. Alain Gauthier, his associates and office staff who have over-seen the well-being of both Bud and Carol over the years. His care and concern for them is deeply appreciated. We also want to acknowledge the expert help of the EMT, as well as the nurses in the ICU of the Perth Hospital. They treated our Dad with great respect and compassion. He was kept comfortable throughout his entire health crisis which came on suddenly. It was a devastating ordeal but one which was blessedly brief. Dad passed away knowing how very much he was loved. Should you wish to honour Bud with a donation, please consider the Perth Great War Memorial Hospital. Please share your memories and stories relating to Bud, at www.blairandson.com. We thank everyone who brought joy to Bud’s life. He left us too soon. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
