Hi Lola and family.
It's Colin Darmon. Not sure if you remember me, Joe and I rented the back of the house in Perth way back in the mid 80's, we were both OPP officers, now retired.
I just heard about Peter's passing and wanted to send my late condolences to all the family. I have fond memories of eating Easter supper with you all and having the best lamb I have ever tasted.
Take care all.

I am filled with sadness to hear this huge loss for the Kotsovolos family . I feel so grateful to have gotten to know this family over my lifetime. In particular, I am closest with Sophie but feel close to Frankie as we shared high school memories together. Sophie and I shared many hours / memories at the rink together when we both figureskated. I will be eternally grateful for Mr & Mrs Kotsolvolos ( Lola & Peter) for letting us stay in their home in Greece in Sept 2018. It was definitely a trip of a lifetime as my husband and I were lucky to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with this trip to Greece . . The people , culture and food was to be never forgotten. I posted a few pictures of our trip to Greece that profoundly affected Brian and I. From the bottom of my heart to the whole Kotsolvolos family , I am so so sad for your loss - I will always love you all.

Lola, Demi, Sophie, and Frank..
It is with great sadness I learn of the passing of your husband, father and friend, Peter. As we go through life we encounter people that upon meeting, even for the first time, we immediately know are good people. Peter was such a man. Whether it was his warm smile and gentle laugh, or his great work ethic and integrity, Peter had this quality. My fondest memory of Peter took place in 1994, at the graduation of Frank and I from St. Francis Xavier University. My family invited Peter and Lola to our home in Antigonish for a graduation supper. As was tradition at the that time in my home, we would have an "authentic" Atlantic Lobster boil for such an event. The table was set with the usual items: Potato salad, Macaroni Salad, a few beer and some random utensils (mostly for show). The table cloth of course was layers of newspaper and a couple rolls of paper towel. Peter and Lola were asked to sit first and abruptly provided with a couple steamed, WHOLE Atlantic lobsters. The look of excitement and bewilderment on Peter's face is one I will soon not forget as he attempted to plan his first move. He looked at Lola, looked around and chuckled with his warm smile before cracking and gobbling lobster like he had done it a million times before. In that instant of a complete culture shock, he fit in like a true down east Maritimer!
I so wish I could have been there in person, please accept our deepest condolences.

Here are the English words to the Greek song that Lola chose to accompany Peter’s video memorial:
The boats and the trains
full of young immigrants
leave to faraway lands.
Some are bound for Germany,
Some are bound for Australia
and others for Canada.
Wives cry for their husbands,
Mothers weep for their children,
the young son sobs,
the young daughter says,
to her father, “please stay healthy”.
From our beautiful homeland
Young people full of hope
Leave for America
To work so they can live
And with wealth to return
To Greece one morning
Wives cry for their husbands,
Mothers weep for their children,
the young son sobs,
the young daughter says,
to her father, “please stay healthy”.
Boats and Trains leave
Full of bright young men
And they return empty
From foreign lands
My migrants, who knows
If you will ever return here again?

Dear Lola, Dimitrios, Sophia and Frankie and family
Please except our sincerest condolences on the passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Peter was such a kind, considerate and loving man. As a friend of Sophie, many of our friend group we’re so fortunate to have him as a second father. Not only did he feed us when we gathered to see each other, but he genuinely cared how we and our families were doing. Even when we had kids of our own, he and Lola couldn’t wait to see them and hear how they were doing. When our friend group turned 45, we decided that we would head to Greece to celebrate this milestone. I still remember Peter coming outside to the picnic table at 1 Lola Lane with a map of Greece to show us where we needed to explore. And above all, we had to visit his village. Fortunately, we did make that trip, and spent time in Peter’s village and in his “homeland”. That trip gave all of us all a better insight into who Poppa K was...a man who left a country he truly loved; a man who loved a country (Canada) who was truly willing to adopt him and who came to embrace him ; and a family that stretches beyond many countries and even continents.
Thinking of you all and hoping to see you all soon. Much love to all.

Dearest Lola and family....
It was my pleasure to help with Peter and get to know lovely Lola and the family. Always felt welcomed and enjoyed my mini Greek lessons while enjoying coffee with Lola and Peter. Peter would laugh at my struggling Greek phrases, but was also encouraging.
A real gentleman, a man of good humor and a warming smile, polite and thankful. Also a man who enjoyed music and dance.
Your memory will live on in the many hearts that you have touched. Farewell friend. Heather

Our sincere sympathy to Lola, Frank, Demetrie, Sophia and your families.I first met the Kotsovolos family in 1968 when I moved to Perth and Demetrie was in my grade 2 class at Stewart School. Thankfully we have been friends ever since. I visited Peter when he was in the Perth hospital. I told him about falling in love with the pizza that he made. Andre is friends with Frank and Demetrie keeping them in signs for their restaurants. Peter was proud of his sons and their businesses. All of us kids got a good laugh every time we placed an order and Pete would know before we said our name it was for The Sullivan’s. Dad only likes pizza with light cheese and we placed enough orders that Pete always knew it was for Wayne. I have many fond memories of Friday night pizza, and Sunday morning breakfasts after church.
