My Great Grandmother, Bessie Parks was an extraordinary woman. She was a very hard worker in her day, as my Father David tells me. They fenced all the time together, took care of both milk and beef cattle, bailing hay, and completing many, many other chores around the farm. I was born in 2002 so I knew my Great Grandmother for 17 years (going on 18) years of her life. She still had some beef cattle left when I was young and I remember driving or walking a couple of kilometres down the Kingston line to visit her on the farm. With her Collie Buddy by her side, I hear that she always had a Collie dog by her side. I’m blessed to have known her last dog, Buddy. I wasn’t around for all of the memories but I feel her so close to my heart everyday. She was a hard worker and it showed, she had some of the best Hereford cattle in the entire area, she got paid top dollar for these cattle; as she certainly deserved it. I wish her all the peace and tranquility in the universe up there with her late husband and son, she’ll be watching over us and guiding us through our lives for as long as we live, til we meet again Grandma Moo Moo.
Love always,
Your Jewel (Makayla Parks)
