Norman and Gerald, offering condolences on behalf of the extended O'Brien family, formerly of Gore St. in Perth many years ago. We are saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. Our Dad, Ed, was also a shoe designer and worked with Gerry at Brown Shoe Co. in Perth when we arrived from Ireland in the late 1960's. Our families knew each other and got together again after we emigrated to Canada in 1974 having returned to Ireland in the interim. I did not know of the many parallels between my Dad and yours, or between our family's histories. I am attaching a couple of pictures Dad had which I'm sure you will enjoy seeing. (In the second one, our Dad is front row, centre, Gerry is back row, centre.) Please wish our best to your Mom - I remember her candles well and they traveled with us for many years.

Mrs Huebner Norman Gerald I am so sorry for your loss.Gerry was one of the finest men I was privileged to call a friend. My father had a great deal of respect for Gerry as well and through my father Gerry was able to give me my first job which involved pressing wild flowers between glass and newspapers these pressed flowers were later used in your beautiful candles. Then later I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to work in the pattern department for many years. Luckily always within a few feet of Gerry who taught and told me many things over the years and my life was enriched for having known him I was fortunate to meet him just before you moved to Ottawa he seemed excited and I was happy for you all. Gerry will be missed he was a great gentleman.
