Obituary of Eric John Hinton

Eric John Hinton (July 6, 1926 – July 7, 2021)

Eric passed away peacefully at Broadview Nursing Centre July 7, 2021 with family by his side.

Eric is survived by his sister Joan (Bob) Murray and brother-in-law Bill Kyle. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Stella Hinton, and his siblings Dwight (Mary) Hinton, Alvin (Doris) Hinton, Donna Kyle.

Eric will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews Grant Hinton (Margaret Darling), John (Donna) Hinton, Robin (Gloria) Murray, Greg (Jennifer) Murray, Cathy Vanderham, Kelly (Dan) Rees, Jay (Lori) Kyle, Jeff (Joanne) Kyle, and  Lynn (Jim) Hinton-Mills.

Eric had a very special bond with his great niece Tanya (Jason) Jamieson, who he treated like a daughter. He was so proud of all of his great nieces and nephews.

Eric loved farming and had fond memories of working on the farm. He later got into the grocery store business that moved him to London where he ran his own store before retiring. He moved back to Smiths Falls 5 years ago to be closer to family. A special thank you to the team at Willowdale and Broadview Nursing Centre for all your care and compassion.

There will be a private service held at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, in Smiths Falls Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. In remembrance donations may be made to Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation at www.psfdhfoundation.com in memory of Eric.
