Sincere, heartfelt condolences to the Lightford families. Grover will definitely be missed. He has left a wonderful legacy to those who knew him. I enjoyed my yearly summer visits with him when we were at our cottage on Otty Lake. He was always welcoming and shared so many insightful stories about his life, family, philosophies, etc. I also learned more about my grandfather, Dr. Hardy (who passed over before I was born) and the "Dr. Hardy's Young Men's Club". My Mom, Lenora MacMillan and my Father, Morley Hardy knew Grover since they were young. We appreciate all he has given to community. With sincere sympathy from Beth (Hardy) Dorman.

Sincere condolences and sympathies to the Lightford Family. We haven't had the pleasure of knowing Grover very long but he's the reason we live where we do today. His vision for a community on Otty Lake, the lake he loved so much, was insightful and the hard work he put into the idea made it a reality. He was unique, an inspiration and an amazing gentlemen. To Susan, Lynn, Norm, Liz and Mary and the Lightford family. I'm so sorry to hear this news and thinking of you all at this difficult time. I want to send condolences on the passing of your father, Grover Lightford. I was one of the young men who was in Hardy’s Young Men’s Class (HYMC) when he was leader, who met every Sunday at 10 AM in St. Pauls Church Tower Room. It was a non-denominational group to help young men respect one another, broaden their interest, shoulder responsibility and live a good life founded by Dr. J. H. Hardy (which he lead for the first 22 years). A lot of serious discussions took place in this group. We had a Reunion on July 11, 2020. In looking at a picture of the group taken in the 1950‘s, there are 26 in attendance along with your father. Following is our class closing that may help you at this difficult time. “May the Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from the other. Amen” Lyle Conroy

Recently I was going through some of Mum and Dad's pictures, and I looked at some from their university days and their wedding. There was Grover. Dr Lightford was a kind, thoughtful and compassionate man who consistently impressed me with his great ability to listen. Our mother took my sisters and I to his office above Woolworth on Gore Street, for our twice annual dental check-up. While washing his hands, he would ask me what was going on in my life, as I sat anxiously in the chair. He listened intently to my response, with great interest. My condolences to all in the Lightford family, on his passing. Certainly, a life very well lived. Dave Wickware

My condolences to Grover Lightford's family. Your loved one graciously took on a 16 year old girl from Ottawa who at the cottage with her family had her two front teeth snapped off in an accident. Grover took me on, and every week throughout the whole summer, treated what was left of the teeth to prevent infection and prepared them for implants which he installed the Friday before Labour Day weekend, enabling me to return to school with my smile intact. Furthermore those teeth are still working well 59 years later! He was a great and compassionate dentist and he will always have my greatest appreciation and esteem. Valery Wood

I know you dropped in a lot to visit Mom and Dad because you always dropped in when we were around which wasn't that often. Grover always signed off his visits with "be kind to each other." Wayne and I would like to extend our deepest condolences to all of the family on Grover's passing. Grover was an outstandingly great fella, kind, hardworking, humble and a friend to all. Wayne very much enjoyed providing lawn care service to Grover several years ago, and I would have the pleasure of a phone conversation from time to time. He was an excellent dentist as well.
