My condolences to Alan and Jane. Wendy always gave me lovely cheery smiles and chuckles! She even still recognized me as a friendly face she knew when her decline was in progress - and cracked a joke. As Editor/Owner of the Lanark Era, she was the first newspaper with the courage to publish my letter detailing why the Director of Education should resign - which he did a while later due to the information becoming public knowledge. She ran many interesting stories in her small local newspaper that I had not previously read until she took over!
With Love & Memories,
Eric Scheuneman

Alan and all of Wendy's loved ones. We wish to express our sympathy. Wendy was a very personable, kind individual. We are happy to have met and interacted with her on many occasions. What a wonderful write up of her life. A great photo, which we believe to be taken on the front porch of the Era Office when she owned it, across from the current Baseball field in Lanark.
May she always be close in heart and never far from mind. Wendy and all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I met with Wendy when I was a little girl. I was 11 and for the next 12 years my sister and I visited her and Alan every summer. They become our family. And they are still our family. Wendy was for me and for my sister like our mother. She was so kind and caring. We’ve spend many wonderful moments together. I’ll never forget her. She will always be in my heart.

When my sister Oksana and I were just 11 years old we were blessed with the opportunity of meeting the most amazing loving and caring women by name Wendy. She became like a second mother to us.
Every summer we would come to Canada from Belarus and stayed with Wendy and Alan for the whole summer.
We shared a lot of great memories together. We traveled all over the country, went camping, played games and just had a lot of deep conversations.
Wendy will always be in my heart and my memories and will be missed deeply by me and Oksana.

Alan, Jane, Pat, David and Derek,
Our deepest sympathies to all of you on the loss of Wendy.
I remember Wendy as a very soft spoken, gentle, kind, loving and compassionate person.
I always looked up to Wendy, she was so interesting to talk to about all her life adventures and travels.
Wendy also had a great sense of humour and as teenagers we shared lots of laughs and fun times- both in Sudbury and when she visited with us in Pembroke- and along for the ride was “spooky” her dog.
She will be missed.
Alan, I hope your joyful, happy memories with Wendy lift your spirits always.

Alan, Jane, Derek and David,
So saddened to hear of Wendy’s passing. She was a great boss to work for and an even better friend. She never made it feel like you were going to work, you were going to your second home. I will cherish the memories I have of her and miss her greatly. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
