Smokie was my brother, only 14 months older and always someone I looked up to and admired. Growing up we would get into such fun together and growing into adulthood, my wife, Marguerite, and I would go camping in Algonquin with him and Ursula. Into our retirement years, we would go visit Ursula and Smokie in Rideau Ferry. Most recently, I have enjoyed our phone visits, always hearing his contagious laugh. I miss him.

Jennifer, Mike and Jakob. We would like to extend our heart felt condolences to you at this time. We were so sadden to hear of Uncle Smokie’s sudden passing. We hold Uncle Smokie close in our heart. We have been so fortunate to have created so many memories over the past several years through visits while passing through Rideau Ferry and Orleans. These visits were so meaningful for Mike who often sat with his Uncle Smokie having a beer in the yard talking about everything under the sun. Also special for Michael Jr. who also got to know his Great Uncle Smokie and play his bagpipes for him. We will always remember Uncle Smokie’s love of nature, his hobby garden that sometimes fed the deer, and his cats. We will miss this kind and gentle man. Mike, Mary, and Family

We are so very sorry to hear of Uncle Smokie's passing. I have copies of the family tree that Uncle Smokie worked so hard on. We are all very grateful to have received them and will be honoring his memory by passing the books down through the family. Our deepest condolences to Jennifer, Mike and Jakob.
