My sincere sympathy to all the Gemmill Family. Back when we were younger, a Sunday drive and a visit from family and friends was always enjoyed. Joe along with his mom and dad would drive up to Flower to see my mom and dad and they would not be there to long and we would be asking Joe if he had brought his guitar and he would go and get it and pull up a wooden coke case to sit on in front of the store and he would play and sing for anyone that wanted to listen. RIP Joe

Our sympathies go out to your family. We will miss Joe's consistent smile and upbeat attitude. Legion members will remember him sitting on the end of the table enjoying a beverage. Always had something positive to say about the Leafs hockey team which usually was a difficult thing to do.

Uncle Joe you were one of a kind…I remember as a kid you playing your guitar at grandmas house..your favourite song to play was always you are my sunshine..I can still see you singing and strumming…I remember all the times you would come watch me play ball and cheer us on..the many times I stayed with you and aunt Helen on Sherbrooke street when I had a ball game that weekend..I’d get back and you would always have the baseball game on cheering for your beloved blue jays..we never agreed on hockey because you loved the maple leafs and I loved the Habs but we always had good chats about who would win the game…I’ll never forget the trip to Lindsay and you going down to see the boys at the Lindsay Legion, you were always up for a good time and in the best of spirits..I know the Perth legion will never be the same without you as a regular…wherever you went you knew everyone and always had time to stop and chat with people..and you always took the time to go and mourn someone if they passed away..you were a big part of the Mcintosh family and everyone of us will miss you Uncle Joe…Love you and May you Rest In Peace with aunt Helen and say hello to grandma for me…you always were her little brother Joe.

Hi Joe. I was saddened to hear of your dad's passing yesterday. I have many great memories of him mainly from the Legion. He had a knack of getting peoples attention by saying things that would prompt discussion and then only to retreat to his favourite table with a sheepish grin on his face knowing that he had just stirred the pot. Joe and I had many a chat about sports (mainly hockey of course) and who was going to win the cup. We both bought more than our fair share of Nevada tickets over the years and Joe would always take the time to show you what the $100.00 winner looked like when he got one. Joe may be gone now but he will never be forgotten and his presence at the Legion will always be there. I will miss him a lot. My sincerest condolences to you and the entire family for your loss. Sincerely, Jim Boldt.

Uncle Joe will be missed terribly. The picture is Uncle Joe, his nephew John, great nephews Raymond, Mike and Jake. After attending a pamper party for his great great niece Lilly, the boys all watched Toronto beat Montreal. Was at his favourite watering hole.
