Our sincere sympathy to all the Polk family! Our family has so many happy memories of summer holidays spent at Buck Lake with the Polk's, Gilchrist's & DeLong's! Good people all! Always willing to help out a friend and have lots of fun along the way! Got very adept at pulling our dock in for the winter! First visited Gilchrist's at their cottage in 1972. I remember sleeping on the floor there, and sharing the space with a little mouse - worked out fine! In 1976 we rented "Marion's cottage" , before buying our own nearby. Gatherings at the sandbanks, windsurfing, walks up to McDowell, and weiner roasts on 'the island'. Lots of visits to your cottage where we always received a very warm welcome from your parents and all you 'kids'! When we moved to Kelowna from Toronto in 1990, our kids were so sad about leaving the cottage - way more than they were our house! Eric - do you still have your racoon? fur hat, complete with tail? A tribute to Marion and Harvey - lives well lived and fine role models for us all! Thank you for being our friends! Jean & Dalel McKenzie

We have so many wonderful memories of our times together at Shabomeka. Marion with her poise and patience - Harvey with his unrelenting zest for a life filled with creativity and love. His friendship, and that of the entire Polk family will remain a part of us always. Our thoughts are with you, Allan and Eileen Gilchrist
