Many years ago I had a very sick big shepherd and took him to Dr. Fish's home at 11p.m.and got him out of bed. He treated my dog & saved him... and when I asked how much he just smiled and said it was okay. Just an example of what a wonderful man & Vet he was....please rest in peace.

I recently heard of Doc Fish's passing ( I always called him Doc anyway) and finally was able to send this note the family's way with hope they will read it with fond regards.
I got to know him through his dedicated work with the Perth Blue Wings; being a former member in the mid seventies. I met Dr. Fish in person at a gathering he and awesome Mrs. Fish hosted for the players and friends after a home game. What I remember about him the most is that he had time to spend enriching the lives of those around him. He was really dedicated to his life work but found the time to volunteer his time in the area of Jr. B. hockey in Perth
Sorry for your loss;
Larry Stewart

Heartfelt condolences to you all. I have such wonderful memories of Ralph over the years. When he and Mary moved to Perth in the 1950's they often visited us at our home in Rideau Ferry. Ralph shared a love of Labrador Retrievers and duck hunting with my father Pete Burchell. Later I was privileged to form a partnership with Ralph at the new Tay Vet Clinic, I was the dog groomer one or two days a week, Ralph supplied the shampoo, I did the grooming and we split the profits! I'm sure we can all celebrate his long and sharing life and take note of the wonderful work he did with Rotary and many other community charities. He set an excellent example for us all, He will be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. Dr. Fish was an amazing man who gave so much to his family, his profession and his community. He was an invaluable source of strength, wisdom, and advice to me during my short time as President of the Perth Blue Wings. His passion for making sure the team would thrive for many years was evident in his many years of dedication and support. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. May we gather strength from the many wonderful memories he has left for us all to cherish.

I'm 47, and I am not sure I remember a time not knowing Dr. Fish. I had heard in September that he was in declining health. It is unfortunate that I cannot attend his memorials, as I have lived in Alberta for 17 years.
I remember his house on Harris St with the most unique shutters, and his radio voice. My word that voice was unique. I have a childhood memory of the garage being filled with cases of, I think, little glass coke bottles in wooden crates. I remember walking through the old clinic at the end of the house. I remember accompanying my father on calls and stopping in at the clinic from time to time.
His community leadership and involvement is a goal I strive for in my own community to this day.
My condolences go out to his family and the people of Perth. He was a pillar of the community that will not be soon replicated.

Dear Wendy, Jane and Rick. Our deepest condolences for the loss of your Dad. He was an absolutely amazing man. He was our first vet and a wonderful one. He had a great sense of humour even in his practice. I’ll never ever forget taking our cat to him as it had some sort of intestinal issue. He gave us something in a tube and told us to let the cat lick it off our finger, then said “Pin his ears to his tail and throw him outside.” We still laugh about it 40 + years later. He will be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Sincerely Debi (Cavanagh) and Larry Sparks.

Wendy, Jane and Rick, So saddened to hear of your Dad’s passing. I cannot begin to articulate the impact your Mom and Dad had on me. One of my most vivid memories is at Harris Street when your Dad asked if I would like a drink. He said liqueurs were also available. As someone new to drinking (just past the age of majority) I decided on crème de menthe - probably because it tasted more like dessert and less like alcohol. From that day on every time I visited and drinks were served Dr Fish served me a TUMBLER of crème de menthe! Bless him. My teeth were green for days! A wonderful memory. I loved Dr Fish and Mrs Fish like second parents. They won’t be forgotten. ❤️

Uncle Ralph,
You will be so missed. All the family and extended family, Keating’s, Baird’s and Thomas’s thank you for your love, affection, caring and fond memories over the years. Many laughs were shared at the Fish house, Christie Lake, Baird and Thomas farms. It might have involved a few sips of single malt scotch.
May you rest now and look over us as we carry on.

So very sorry to read that Ralph has slipped away. I remember him fondly, administering veterinarian services to our pets. (Mind you I must say that Greg was a bit disappointed that Boots did not receive a life-saving blood transfusion like the Pope of the day.) I remember your Labrador visiting the high school around lunch time then meandering back home with lunch bags in his mouth. The appetite of a Labrador goes unmatched. I so appreciated that he took the time to visit my Mom, Edith, in Lanark Lodge. He was so good to reminisce with her. And boy did that generation have plenty of stories to share of dinners and dances at the Curling Club, golf club and Ski club and in all their finery. Our sincere condolences and let your memories of a life that has been loved bring you joy.
