Obituary of Peter Giannone Riley

Passed peacefully on January 3, 2023 at the Smiths Falls hospital at the age of 88. Dedicated husband to Barbara for 48 years. Devoted father to Jennifer Rae Riley (Ron Kropp), Simone Sarah Riley, and Cory (Craig) Riley. Loving brother to Carole Croucher (Ewan) and cousin Ann Rigby. Brother-in-law to Hugh Francis Burns (Jan Pugsley), Neil Burns (Michelle Burns), Andrew Burns and Belle Riley. Grandfather to Kai Riley Mesa, Jessica Hiegert Riley and Emily Hiegert Riley. Caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Phyllis (Walker) and Jasper Giannone Riley and brother Enrico (Ricky). Peter was born in Preston, Lancashire, UK, immigrating to Canada in June 1964. He worked at the GM Scarborough Van Plant for 34 years. Spent 40 years sailing in West Lake along the dunes at Sandbanks. He also spent many winters in Florida. Peter especially enjoyed playing Hand & Foot. He was the light of his family’s lives - known for always being high energy and happy.

The family wish to thank the Smiths Falls Hospital staff for diagnosing Peter, keeping him calm, comfortable and cared for. A Celebration of Life will be held at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation – Smiths Falls Site.  Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Smiths Falls.
