I remember the first time I really got to know Jean. Sean and I went with Julia and Michael to her home in Perth for an extended family gathering. Jean was so sweet and welcoming and really funny! And the whole home had such a feeling of warmth and love.
My sincere condolences to Jean’s family, and special hugs to my mother-in-law and Jean’s sister, Julia.

My sincere sympathy to Jean’s family. I first met Jean in 1969 when we drove with Joan Taylor, Gail McAdam, and Dawn Palmer to Ottawa to take Primary Ed courses. There was never a dull moment in the car. Over the years we would visit when we met up with each other. Your dear Mother was such a special lady. You can see that in her eyes. RIP. Blessings

Dear Julie and family,
My deepest sympathy in the loss of your mother. I loved that Irish twinkle in her eye. You can see it in her picture. If only more people in the world could be like her. May fond memories lighten the burden of the next part of your journey.

Steve, Mike, Sally, Julie, Nancy and families. My condolences.
I knew Jean and Harold Fortner and family as our Perth East Ward neighbours and got to know them well through our friendship with their sons Steve and Mike. Jean was also my sister Marnie's kindergarten teacher.
Running into Jean would always brighten one's day. She had such a delightful voice and a wonderful sense of humour. I remember dropping in for several Christmas Eves at the Fortner household and having a great time. The Fortners introduced my brother Pat and I to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire and I recall sharing great seafood with the them at the "Ocean Manoir".
I know that it sounds cliche to say - May her memory be a blessing - but I'm sure it will be.

So sad to hear of Mrs. Fortner’s passing. I was at student in her Senior Kindergarten class which was also her last year of teaching. I still have fond memories of her teaching and mostly remember the fabulous Kindergarten graduation she put on for our families. We all had a role in singing or reading poetry. And of course she played the piano. It’s was such a special milestone in a child’s life that I know I will never forget thanks to her. Mrs.Fortner was a legacy that touched the lives of so many. So very sorry to her family. Sending love and prayers.

Dear Julie and all of Jeans family. Your Mom was one of the loveliest and kind women I have ever had the pleasure to know. I was only a teen when I met her at Teak Hair Fashions where she had her hair done weekly . I continued to run into her over the years and she loved to have a chat. I then saw her almost weekly at Carolina Retirement Suites where I had a client. She was truly one of a kind. Debi Cavanagh Sparks.

So sorry to hear of Jeans passing, my condolences to you all. She cared so deeply, for her own family as well as others. I will never forget hearing of her praying for my newborn son when he was sick in September, when she was not well herself at the time. Truly so selfless and devoted to her faith. I am thankful to have known her. May she rest in peace.
