Obituary of Vernon Barr
Passed away peacefully at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the age of 84. Beloved husband and best friend to Elizabeth Barr (Schnobb). Loving and devoted father to Robert Barr (Kimberley Kruschinske) and Christine (Paul) Hendry. Cherished grandfather of Jessica (Dave) Wold, Cory Hendry (Sasha Coote). Proud great grandfather to Jessica and Dave’s children; Wesley and John and to Cory and Sasha’s children; Kordell, Lydia and Tyson. Vern is survived by his brother Richard Barr (the late Dianne Barr) and is predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Ron and Shirley Barr and his sister Norma Bednas. He will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Marvin Bednas, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Irene and Roy Sampson, and Yvonne Schnobb. Vern is also predeceased by his sister-in-law Jeanine (Gino) Cacciotti, his brothers-in-law Andy (Bonnie) Beaulieu and Leo (Inez) Beaulieu and parents Delbert and Bertha Barr (Jolliger). He was the proud god-father to Roy and Irene’s daughter, Tracey Sampson (Annie Martineau) and Andy and Bonnie’s son, Micheal Beaulieu. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and so many friends that have shown Vern’s family an outpouring of support. Vern was born in Ottawa where he worked as a Licensed mechanic for many years on the bench, eventually retired as the garage Foreman at Canada Post. Eventually Vern and Elizabeth left Ottawa to fully retire and live in Arden, a small Hamlet in Central Frontenac. Living in Arden, they were both able to enjoy the great outdoors by being surrounded with many lakes and large natural wilderness's. This is where Vern enjoyed all his outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting, and the occasional scenic drive with Elizabeth to show her the beauty of the land in the surrounding area of Arden. The decision to downsize was made and Vern and Elizabeth settled in Renfrew to reconnect with their roots by being close to many family members living in Renfrew and surrounding area. Vern loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. Vern's family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses of the Renfrew Hospital for their kindness in our time of need. There will be a private graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
