I am a long time friend of Mary, Rene and Stan's daughter. Mary and I met in the fall of 1970 at the University of Guelph, and have been friends every since. I was fortunate to meet Rene and visit her with Mary a number of times over the years. She was a very accomplished, strong woman, and an amazing mother and grandmother. Her warmth and friendliness always made me feel so welcome. I am glad that she has had such a long and interesting life, and that she is now at peace.

My sincere sympathy to you, Heather, Mary, and your families. Rene was one of my favorite ladies to enjoy a conversation with. Over the years it might have been at a church dinner, or in their Condo, or when she and Irene were having afternoon tea at Coutts or whenever I saw her at Lanark Lifestyles. She was not a happy lady when I spoke to her last fall. I could empathize with her. I am sorry that there will be no more conversations. Look at Rene's special smile. She could light up a room. May all of your special memories help to console you as you celebrate Rene's remarkable 99 years! Blessings

Our condolences to Rene's family. My Mom, Edith Hansen, enjoyed many, many games of bridge with Rene over the years and I was happy to serve as a chauffeur to Rene, June and Irene so that they could enjoy a glass of wine and had the pleasure of hosting the bridge club on Mom's behalf.
