My sister Gertrude (she hated when I called her that, but that is her name bestowed upon her by our parents) is/was the most loving ,kindest and devoted mom & grandmother to her family ; and to those friends that felt like family. She touched the hearts of everyone who came into her life with warmth ,openness and joy. Gertie had a special gift with children and animals - I remember when I was younger, it was like a parade when ever she left the house, kids of all ages and dogs ( even cats sometimes too) followed her .Cooking was not her thing - meat balls as hard as rocks , turkey not cooked all the way and she tried making deserts too (burnt cookies anyone !). The most important and heartfelt time was when Gertie ( and her children) supported and cared for me and my son after I lost my husband. We will all remember her with sorrow because she gone, with love because she was the heart & soul of family , and with laughter because of the memories. CIAO SIS
