Obituary of Robert John Mesman

It is with great sadness that we announce that Robert “Bob” Mesman passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in his 77th year on May 6, 2023. Bob was the beloved husband of Marie Cruz for 45 years and the cherished father of Amanda (Marco), and Rob who predeceased him in 2013. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren Cono and Luca. Born in Holland, the son of the late Martin Mesman and Marie Mesman nee Loogman. Bob was brother of the late Tinie Wempe (Wim), Peter (Mary), Leo (Gertrude) and Fred (Marilyn). Bob is survived by brothers Martin (Jill), Bill (Rejeanne), Tom (Ardele), Ben, and sister Alida Maclachlan (Murray). He was the beloved brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bob loved his cars and long country drives visiting his family and friends. He was the dear friend of Father Brent Brennan and many parishioners at St. Mark’s in Prescott. He was employed by Ontario Hydro for 35 years in Public Relations. Bob was so kind, caring, outgoing, loved “company”, entertaining, and volunteered his time and resources to numerous charities. Bob will be dearly missed! We love you. Friends and family are invited to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (17 Elmsley St. N., Smiths Falls) for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday May 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in Hanley Hall. Interment will take place at Christ the King Cemetery (7770 Steeles Ave E, Markham) on Thursday May 11, 2023 at 2 p.m. where Bob will join his beloved Marie. A reception will take place following the interment at the Mandarin Restuarant (88 Copper Creek Drive, Markham). If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
