Obituary of Jonathan Proulx
Passed suddenly but peacefully in his sleep on September 14, 2023 at the age of 35. Jonathan is survived by his spouse Christine Harte and their beloved children Nathan Bowes, Emma Harte, Ava Harte-Proulx, and Raya Harte-Proulx. He is lovingly remembered by his parents Cheryl Buffam and Terry Proulx, along with his siblings Matthew (Amber), and Diana (Will). He will always be a beloved uncle to his nephew Bentley, and nieces Nevaeh and Isabelle. He will be forever missed by his grandma Betty Buffam, his mother-in-law MaryAnn Harte, as well as by his friends Kyle Sterns, Jim Joho, and Kasey Bronkhorst. His cousins, aunts, uncles, great-aunt, and many friends in the community will miss him more than words can convey. Jonathan was, above all, a beautiful and loving soul who could light up a room with his laughter. He could banish the darkness by making the people around him laugh, and chase away sadness with a good song played at full blast. He gave his family a reason to smile just by being himself. Jonathan was well-known and respected in the community; he was a social man who always sought to be introduced to a new face, and would give anyone in need his time and attention. Once he knew you, he would never forget your name and face. Music moved through him and you could often find him dancing and singing along to whatever tune caught his attention; he could play multiple instruments including the alto sax, trumpet, and a bit of guitar. His creative side didn’t end with music, however, in his youth he had worked with the famed Canadian puppet master Noreen Young in Puppets Up as a variety of mascots. Jonathan was a skilled driver, he held a license to drive anything other than a school bus (and he’d planned on getting that one too). Prior to his passing he was hoping to become a long-distance trucker. He was great with computers, new tech, and gaming consoles but most of all his family will remember him as the best father, son, and friend that anyone could ask for. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to the Blair & Son Funeral Home in Smiths Falls (112 Beckwith St N) on Friday October 6, 2023 from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. A service celebrating his life will be held in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Oncology Program or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
