Obituary of James Boothby
Peacefully, with his loving wife by his side at Lanark Lodge, James entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at the age of 81. He and Joan (nee Cooke) were married for over 52 years this past September. James was the loving father of Julie (Carl Loucks) and John Boothby (Katrina McDaniel), and the cherished grandfather of Adam, Sara, Maddy, Jamie, Josie and Ronan. He will be dearly missed by his sister Elaine (late Earl) Burgess. James was predeceased by his parents John and Annie (nee Echlin), his brothers; Dan and Harry and by his sister Ruth Emon.
James was a man of many talents, he drove truck, most recently for Bangs Fuels – delivering home heating oil – he taught driving school in Oshawa, he installed septic systems, he was most comfortable outdoors when he could spend his days hunting, and fishing, but by far James absolutely loved baseball, he could be found maintaining the diamond in Lanark, Umping, playing and watching all the time.
The family wish to thank all the staff and nurses at Lanark Lodge for their compassion, support and care over the last few years.
Friends may call at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Monday, October 16th, 2023 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The funeral service for James will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 at 1:00pm. Interment to take place in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Brooke. In honour of James, memorial contributions to the Lanark Lodge Resident Activity Fund, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
