Obituary of Donald Levi Van Alstine
The family of Donald Levi Van Alstine of Maberly, Ontario is very saddened to announce another branch of their tree has fallen with his passing on October 11, 2023 at the age of 90 years.
Born September 27, 1933 he was the loving husband of 68 years to Josephine Larmon; loving father to Earl (Dayle), Rosetta, Anne (late Walter), Joan (Keith), Gail, and David (Laura); adored by 12 grandchildren, Jessamyn, Robyn (Sean), William, Donald (Dayna), Adam (Alyshia), Joey (Megan), Amber, Shane (Diana), Ryan, Jenna, Matthew (Emily), Amanda (Jason) and 16 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Donald Sr. and Rosetta Brown, stepmother Jean Allan, sisters Violet, Shirley, and brothers Gordon, Ken, and Harold, sisters in-law Ryta, Sandy, Marjorie, Margaret, Shirley and brothers in-laws Bill, Gordon, Harold, Floyd and Victor. Donald will be greatly missed by his sisters Irene (Wayne) and Bonnie (Earl), brothers Cliff (Alice), Art (late Ryta), Bud (late Sandy), Ernie (Joyce) and sisters-in-law Opal, Vivian, Joyce, and Ruth.
Donald was born, raised and lived his entire life on the farm. He farmed, sold firewood, was a maple syrup producer and founder of the band “Country 5” where he excelled at his skill as a fiddle player.
Friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W., Perth on Monday October 16th, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held in the chapel Tuesday at 10:30 A.M.. Following the interment in Laidley Cemetery, a reception and sharing of memories will follow in the Maberly Community Hall.
