Obituary of Walter Christopher Kingston

Passed away peacefully at the age of 82 at Perth Hospital on Monday, October 23, 2023, surrounded by the love and support of his family.  Walter is predeceased by his first wife Kathryn (nee Mitchell) and is survived by his beloved second wife Marion (nee Baverstock). Loving and devoted father of Christopher (Jill), Cindy (Louis) Huelin, and Lynn (Greg) Latourell.  Cherished grandfather of Samantha (Michael), Amanda (Louis), Logan (Lucas), Elliot (Syd), and Shaun (Olivia) and will be sadly missed by his 6 great-grandchildren. Walter will be fondly remembered by Marion’s son Stanley (Barbara) Ledgerwood, his sisters-in-law Karen MacPherson, Bonnie Mitchell, as well as many nieces, nephews his large extended family and friends.  Walter is also predeceased by his brother Tom Kingston and his sister Margaret Billing, as well as Marion’s son David Ledgerwood. Walter was born and raised in Carleton Place. He met Kathryn in Smiths Falls and they married in 1960. They had 3 children and were together 39 years before she passed in 1999. He spent 10 years on the Carleton Place police force, followed by 25 years with Correctional Services Ontario, where he happily retired at age 57. He was able to spend many wonderful years in retirement and met his second wife Marion in 2002. They have had 21 wonderful years travelling and enjoying time with family and friends. All are welcome to pay their respects at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 1 to 4 p.m. A service to celebrate his wonderful life will take place in the Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m.  Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Society of Canada or the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
