We were saddened to hear of uncle Roy's passing. Breaking through a veil of secrecy, we met him late in life and are very glad we had the opportunity to know him, and connect with his family. His arrival brought beautiful connections with Martin, Carol and their children, filling our family with immense joy. Meeting him was a gift - the immediate love he shared with us will always be appreciated and never forgotten. We are sending our deepest sympathies to his sister Jane, family and friends.
Roy kept his heart open to us - an example for us to remember in our lives ♥︎

I am so sad to say goodbye. I will miss our chats, the stories, the laughs, the friendship, but most of all your brotherly love, without judgement, without complaints and without resentment. You added so much to my life since we first met. I am forever grateful to your sister Jane for bringing us together. Your beautiful son Martin and his amazing family have been a true blessing for the Newlove family. I will forever be thankful for knowing you my dear sweet brother. I hope that you and Dad will be free to share sentiments of love and forgiveness and that Jimmy will get to know what a special person you are. Love you forever, your “little’ sister, Maggie ❤️

Hey Roy, my friend, I miss you buddy. While our bromance, mainly via Facebook, has passed for now, I cherish the moments shared where I may have led in communication, the genuine affection reflected in the warmth of your smile and the sparkle in your eyes affirmed how we felt about each other. Brothers in spirit without reservation.
And we never said goodbye without you first touching an eye, then your heart and finally pointing to me. I in kind returning the gestures plus two fingers meaning”I love you too.”

Sending my sincere condolences to all of Roy's family! Roy and I had a true friendship from the first day we met. He got my sense of humour right away and I knew that he enjoyed our time together. Keeping Roy connected with family that do not live locally was very important to me. To watch Roy light up as soon as he saw you folks on the ipad made my day! He loved you all! Please take care of each other at this difficult time. Kevin Carnrite, Lanark Lodge.

Every now and then I would get a call from Roy and he loved to talk about old times. He had fond memories of my Mom and Dad and he would reminisce about the many times they were together. He truly missed them all. I didn’t phone him that often but he always knew my voice right off the bat and was proud to say so. He was always glad to talk to someone from “down home”. He always ended the call with “I love you”. He was lucky to have Jane at his beck and call and I know he appreciated all that she did for him on a daily basis. The last few years were not the easiest so I am happy for Roy that he is now at rest. May he be fiddling up a storm with people he loves.

Roy was a wonderful man, I knew Roy when he was in the long term care home of Lanark Lodge. We would spend time talking about his cat, son and most of all his sister Jane. I got the sense Roy loved his sister dearly, spoke wonderful things about her. Sometimes he would call me Maggie, I just let it go. Roy's sense of humor direct and too the point. I will miss him dearly, I know we are not to get attached to residents, but I just could not help myself. Roy always said he loved me, with a gentle hug and a big smile. He will be missed, he taught me a thing or two, but most of all I think I loved our talks, asking about the weather, about the chores I had to do when I got home, but most of all I brought Buddy in my new pup, he loved him as I do.
See ya soon Roy, one day we will meet again.

Oh Donna…he loved you and looked forward to when you were on duty. He always enjoyed your chats and joking around. I knew from the first time I met you that Roy was in good hands. I never ever had to worry that you wouldn’t have his best interests at heart or fear for his safety. Thank you so much Donna for your excellent care and compassion. You truly found your calling. Love Jane ❤️
